          Parent-Teacher Association

We would like to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year and encourage your participation and input in our volunteer program.

We are a partnership between the parents of students in the school and its teachers. This year our goal is to promote community spirit by providing opportunities to bring families together in fellowship, fun and learning. Preschool and Kindergarten is an exciting time for parents and children as many friendships are formed during these early years that will last a lifetime. The Parent-Teacher Association, PTA, offers a variety of ways to become involved in your child’s first school experience, meet other families, and support the school. No matter what your interests, talents, or availability may be we have a spot for you in the PTA.

          Achievements
The PTA works collaboratively with the Preschool & Kindergarten Director to provide funds to create the best possible learning environment for our children. We have been able to accomplish some amazing things in previous years!

          • Provide annual teacher reimbursements for classroom supplies
          • Award teachers with Christmas & End-of-the Year Gifts
          • Purchased new Laptops for the Computer Lab
          • Purchased new Desktops for the Preschool Office Staff
          • Purchased classroom area rugs
          • Contributed to walk-in door Preschool canopy
          • Supplemented Toddler Playground with Push-Toys
          • Updated Consignment Sale to an electronic system
          • Providing for a certified playground inspection
          • Purchased 3 year old playground canopy

          Future Goals

In the upcoming school year we hope to raise money from annual PTA dues/events, consignment sales, and book fair to continue improving our program. Your support is needed to ensure that our students are given the best start in the early school years.

Goals for the 2018 - 2019 school year include:

          • Obtaining Additional Independent Contractors to Provide After-School Enrichment Opportunities (such as: Art, Gymnastics, Golf, etc.)
          • Purchase Classroom Manipulatives
          • Support our teachers more
          • Increase In-House Field Trips and Author Visits
          • Continue Library Enhancement
          • Playground Improvements/Repairs & Organic Mulch
          • Purchase new signs for playgrounds

          What We Do
Our Parent Association provides support for the preschool, teachers and Director by coordinating functions for fundraising as well as activities through the school year to promote a happy, safe community for our children. We help maintain the wonderful, enriching environment at the preschool.

A parent's involvement in their child's school affirms the importance of a quality education for children and as a result, the children feel proud and excited about their school environment.

These events are an important part of our preschool community. Some of our events are fundraisers and some are traditions that have been handed down through the years. The success of these events is only possible through the help of parents.

You will often see PTA members involved at the school doing whatever they can to help. We happily hand out "I met my teacher" stickers at Open House and serve "tissues and treats" during those first few days of school. We volunteer time at the semi-annual consignment sales and book fairs, as well as help set-up and clean-up at fun family events.

In everything we do, we strive to make each and every parent feel welcome while working and accomplishing things that truly make a difference in the lives of the children here at Snellville UMC Preschool & Kindergarten.

          How We Do It
The funding to operate a quality Preschool and Kindergarten program are beyond what most can ever imagine. The PTA takes on the responsibility of providing those "extra things" the regular expenses of school don't cover.

We raise funds in many ways:

          1. Annual PTA Dues - this is a baseline from which we build each year. We strive to have 100% membership from all our families who attend our program.
          2. Consignment Sale - even if you are not a shopper at one of these events, we can always use volunteers. This is our largest fundraiser! We are extremely proud of the fact that we are not constantly sending home order forms trying to sell baked or frozen goods, wrapping paper, coupon books, etc. We have been able to eliminate "Fundraising" due to this HUGE event. These funds are allocated by the Director for those expensive updates needed on a regular basis to keep our program on the cutting edge.
          3. Book Fairs - a percentage of the revenue brought in by the book fair are given back to the school. This funding is used to purchase other learning materials needed for our school.

There are many wonderful events and activities to volunteer for. We look forward to seeing you at one, or better yet, all of them!
